6 months and counting

The past 6 months have been one incredible journey for Alan and me! Taylor has been a blessing in our lives and it is amazing to think how different she is now compared to the day she was born. She is growing and learning so much that it really makes you stop and think about what a miracle babies really are in this world. Her constant smiles warm our hearts and her little cries break them.

Taylor is a total Daddy's girl. She spends a lot of one-on-one time with Alan which is great for them both at this time in her life. Her face lights up when she sees him and she finds his voice in a room full of people. I am so blessed to have such an amazing husband and I had no doubt that he'd be an amazing father as well. I don't have the words to explain how lucky Taylor is to have such an involved, dedicated, and loving father!

We had her 6 month check up this week and she's up to 16lbs 11oz. She's in the 55th percentile and the doctor informed us that she would be a few inches taller than me. Now I never would have guessed that! kidding Right now we are working on sitting up on her own, but we're not quite there yet. She can do it for a few seconds but eventually topples over! She is a roly poly little thing and is constantly flipping onto her stomach and sticking her little head up like a turtle! She is sleeping pretty good at night and only waking up about twice to eat. Her teachers at daycare say that she is the best baby in the class because she doesn't require a lot of attention to stay happy (which is not the case at home!). She seems to enjoy going to daycare every day and they seem to really enjoy her as well.

The pictures below are some that really capture her personality. She ate her first food other than milk and rice cereal for the first time last week and LOVES it! So far she has had squash and carrots and now that she has the hang of the spoon we can't get it in her fast enough. Mmm, laundry is always on the chore list these days....

Happy 6 months, Taylor!

Our Little Punkin'

Here are some pictures of our little punkin' all dressed up for Halloween. A pumpkin is a pretty traditional Halloween costume but with good reason because all babies are so stinking cute as little gourds! We just snapped these the week before while we were testing the costume out. It was way too hot on Halloween for her to even actually wear it so we didn't get too many pictures this year. Our thoughts are that we have so many years to come for us to dress her up for our own enjoyment and take pictures to embarrass her with later!

We also went for a quick visit to a pumpkin patch here in Charleston simply for some photo ops, but it was so windy and cold (and the patch a little barren) that getting good pictures wasn't really in the plan for that day.

It'sMiley!

We officially have the happiest, smiliest baby in the whole world. I want to call her Miley (since that's how she got her name) but Alan is totally against it. I guess that would be weird. Anyways, here are some pictures of our little ball of sunshine with her infectious smiles. They never get old and melt our hearts every time . . .

Gettin' Sprinkled

Our baby girl was baptized on August 30th at James Island Presbyterian Church and she slept through the whole thing! I was worried about her crying during the service but she was a perfect little angel (although I wouldn't have minded if she was simply just awake)! The dress that she wore was handmade by a friend of Alan's parents and she was beautiful in it. We chose this day because this was the same date that Alan was baptized 28 years ago. It was nice to have our entire family in town for the weekend and for brunch at our house afterwards. God has blessed us so much - especially with giving us our precious daughter, Taylor.

Picture Update

So I've been a little slack over the past month or so with picture updates. [Ok, let's be honest. I've always been slack on this blog. So, whatever ;-) ] Taylor has been growing like a weed all summer and here are some pictures from July. More posts to come . . .

I saw you on the interstate . . . why didn't you wave?

While traveling on I-26 a few weeks ago, Alan and I realized we were following you and tried to speed up to wave 'hello.' However, you wouldn't slow down so we just took this picture instead to prove that we saw you. Let us know when you can come over and pimp our ride too . . .

Our Future Tiger

Taylor is destined to be a Clemson Tiger, considering that her Mom, Dad, an Aunt, an Uncle, and a Grandfather all went to Clemson. Given that, we had to get the standard baby picture wearing Clemson gear. She never stood a chance to be anything other than a Clemson fan.
