Getting Ready

We've been trying to get the house prepared for the impending arrival, and recently got our nursery furniture. Here are a few pictures of the current state of the nursery. We will be painting and hanging curtains in the next few weeks, then will be hanging other decorations and making some other changes afterward, but we thought we'd share some pictures of how it looks right now.

Ultrasound Pictures

As I promised, here are a few pictures from Anna's ultrasound on Monday. We were told that the baby is now about 2.5 pounds and is looking very healthy, which we were obviously very happy to hear. Anna is feeling pretty good, and it's probably in my best interest to not say how much she weighs. Enjoy the pictures!

These are all 3D ultrasound pictures, and while I think they're kind of scary because the fluid shows up as well as the baby, it's really cool to see her mouth, nose, and the rest of her face. Also, it's good to see, according to the first picture, that she's already nice and southern. Only about 2 more months until she arrives, y'all!

Second Ultrasound (coming soon)

Anna had another ultrasound yesterday, but we didn't get a disk with the pictures on it. We were given some printed-out pictures, but I haven't had a chance to scan them and upload them, but I will try to in the next day or so. In the meantime, I thought I would share a picture of Anna practicing using a baby gift. Needless to say, the subject who she chose to practice with was not too happy, and I had to come to the rescue before Anna had her face scratched off.

Is this real life?

This video is pretty funny. I've got to admit that the kid's reaction to pain killers is reminiscent of a few nights in Tiger Town Tavern. It also reminds me of a certain funny, attractive, amazing lady on her 21st birthday...cough...Anna.

Rocky's Growing Up

And now back to the cats... I discovered Rocky enjoying some "private time" recently, although it was in our living room, so he wasn't quite as discreet as I would have hoped.

There is a slight chance that these pictures were set up by someone other than Rocky. You can't blame me...I have to bring the cats back down from the mile-high pedestal that Anna puts them on so their heads don't get too big.

So I'm pretty sure I witnessed a drug deal today

I'm going to stray from Anna's format of cat-related posts and blog about various topics. To start, as the title states, I'm pretty sure I watched a drug deal "go down" today.

I was pumping gas near my office at one of the gas stations that has a detached bathroom building. I saw a rough-looking guy come out of the convenience store part of the gas station with a bathroom key attached to a foot-long stick. For the sake of this blog, we'll call the guy Ricky. So Ricky was on his cell phone and looking around, which seemed harmless enough. Then, rather than go into the bathroom, he got back in his car. This seemed odd, so I decided to watch him while my car finished filling up. About a minute later, a lowrider pick-up truck with extremely tinted windows pulled up and parked next to Ricky's car.

(On a side note, I remember asking my parents to get my car windows tinted when I was in high school and they responded with, "Absolutely not. Only drug dealers have tinted windows." This was while we were riding in my mom's minivan with tinted windows, by the way. On another side note, they also though that only drug dealers had beepers, so I wasn't allowed to have one of those, either.)

A skinny, strung-out-looking girl then got out of the pick-up and got into Ricky's car. Again, this seemed kind of weird, especially since the driver of the truck didn't get out. A minute later, the girl got out of Ricky's car and back into the truck, while Ricky got out of his car and went to the bathroom. My car finished filling up while Ricky was shooting/snorting/smoking in the bathroom, and while I considered sticking around to confirm with Ricky that I did, indeed, witness my first drug deal, I thought better of it and went on my way. Must have been a drug deal, right? I think so. I guess my parents were right about tinted windows. I didn't see a beeper on any of the parties involved, so the jury's still out on that one.

It's a GIRL!

Anna has been a little preoccupied lately with developing our child in her body, working 10-12 hours per day, and being unbelieveably infatuated with our three cats. As such, I may make an attempt at blogging from time to time. As my first attempt, I am taking the opportunity to announce to the "blogosphere" that Anna and I are expecting a girl! Anna had an ultrasound on Monday, and some of the pictures of our daughter follow. Enjoy!

And for those who enjoy the "So, do you think she'll look like the mailman?" jokes, the ultrasound showed that our daughter has long arms and legs, as well as big lips. Know who else has those traits? That's right...me...her father.
