Feline Family Portrait

Here's our single mom with her two illegitimates. Don't judge her, she was on the streets, you know. See that look on her face? Yeah, she's fierce and learned it the hard way. However, Caddy has since cleaned up her act and shares our wonderful home with her 2 sons.

Cute, aren't they?

Brotherly Love

This picture is too adorable not to share! Here are Rocky and Peyton snuggling in the bathroom window. They are both pretty long cats so they had to squeeze to fit in there!

For the first 2 and a half years of living in our house, we had no idea how to open up our windows. We thought they were all nailed shut, but they were actually locked and we just couldn't find the key. Embarrassing - but someone else found it for us: the bathroom remodeler/painter. Now we open the windows often so that we can enjoy the fresh air during these "just right" weeks of the year when you keep them open all day.

BTW, there is a screen in the window, but you just can't see it in the picture. I would never let my little loves out of the house!

Spring has Sprung!

Just wanted to share pictures of the beautiful flowers in our yard . . .
These pictures were taken about 2 weeks ago so most of the azalea flower petals have fallen off now, but the bushes are still brightening up our yard and are fun to look at every day. The way they look for these 3 weeks of the year almost make up for the fact that they are hideous old bushes for the other 49.

Sleepy Rockstar

Look at my sweet little boy, Rocky, (aka RockRock, Rockstar, Feline Love of my Life) enjoying a nap in a comfy mattress cover. He is constantly finding little nooks in our house to snuggle into and enjoy his catnaps. He's a constant in the bed with us every night though. He jumps in when I do and he's always there when I wake up. Love it!

Back by popular demand

Yeah, so I haven't posted in a while. Sorry 'bout that. I know you were missing me and hearing about my cats all the time.

Ok, Anna, think of something to write about . . .

ASPARAGUS! (I'm reaching here. Give me some time to warm up.)
I'm in love with this vegetable and having been eating lots of it in the past week. You want proof? Go sniff in there after I . . . Oh wait, that's probably not appropriate. Anyway, I discovered my love for these little green sticks a few years ago and much to my husband's dismay, I like to cook it at our house as often as I can. My favorite way is to bake them in the oven after I drizzle them with olive oil, garlic, salt & pepa. Delish! I tried something new tonight and boiled them for about 3 minutes and then put lemon juice, butter & parmesan cheese on them and that was great too. Now I just need to convince Alan to get over his lifetime hatred of asparagus. I already sold him on brussel sprouts which was a satisfying feat!

Growing up my family always had fresh vegetables in our house due to my parent's huge garden every year. I didn't understand the coolness of that when I was younger, but now I'm wishing I had that luxury every day because I often crave the zucchini, squash, corn, butter beans, tomatoes, and all of that other good-for-you stuff. The HORROR that I sometimes eat it out of a can. Sorry, Mom and Dad!

B T Dub, my profile picture on this blog is me enjoying some asparagus ;-)

Come on in 2008, make yourself at home

It's been said that the one you're with on New Year's at midnight is who you'll be with the rest of that year. I hope that's the case: I welcomed 2008 with Alan and a generous bartender. Don't worry, Mom. I'm just kidding and even if I wasn't, we had a nice taxi driver.

We had a blast at Red's in Mt. Pleasant for the night. I froze my fanny off but it was worth it to look good in my dress, right? Other than standing in line for 30 minutes to tinkle (more wiggling than standing), getting slightly splashed with urine, and squeezing my tootsies into high heels for 5 hours, New Years was a great time with some great friends.

This time of year is always like a fresh start. Alan and I have joined a gym (*gasp*) and we've actually been every day this year. Wow, are on a roll!! I really hope this lasts and we work ourselves into shape. I'm sure future posts will feature some of my faux pas at the gym. So far, so good. My quads are killing me though. Alan asked how I knew what my "quads" were.

Here is a picture of us ringing in the new year. I hope you all had a great NYE night and hope you have an awesome year ahead.

Lazy Sunday

It is 5:30pm on Sunday and I have been awake for a total of 5.5 non-consecutive hours. I love to nap on the weekends and especially when I get to snuggle with these little guys. Here are Rocky and Peyton on our bed where they have been all afternoon. I was able to sneak in a few snuggle hours with them earlier!
