New Favorite Site - MamaBargains.com

A friend from work introduced me to this site and in the past 24 hours I have checked it at least 10 times. I ordered a cute belly band from it yesterday for cheap and I hope I can find some other things on there too. Basically, the site has 1 "deal" at a time on it and the item changes several times a day. It's a simple operation from someone's home and they gets great deals from 50%-80% off original prices from all different vendors and is able to sell them online to us. Check it out and check back often to see if there is every anything on there you just have to have. Ok, maybe something you just want. Happy shopping!

Tagged!

Ok, finally decided to post something else again if only to stop the harrassment. At least I know I was missed :-) I think I've done one of these before, but they are quirky and fun so here I go again. Thanks for Alex for tagging me in her blog!

7 Random/Weird Facts about Anna
1. I'm pregnant! This is isn't necessarily random or weird, but I had to announce it somehow and #1 just seemed fitting.

2. I almost always sneeze 8 times when I sneeze. This started when I was in college and would leave Tiger Town Tavern. The smoke would make me sneeze every time I left a bar and it would always be 8 times. It still happens today and I have no idea why!

3. I love my cats more than I love most people I know. Sorry, it's true. Of course there are some exceptions so don't be offended (I'm sure you're one of them...) Anyways, I never even had a cat before 2005 but I love my 3 to death. And please no one say that I will stop loving them after our baby is born. They may not get as much attention, but I will still love them to death. Seriously, don't tell me that.

4. The real fruit smoothies at Sonic are my new indulgence. They are heaven in a non-recyclable styrofoam cup!

5. Speaking of styrofoam cups, I get secretly irate when people don't recycle. There is NO reason not to. LOVE the Earth :-)

6. My husband suggests that one of my 7 random/weird facts is "That I have a ridiculously good looking husband." Yep, he's pretty rando/weird.

7. Discovering my love of Sunkist/Diet Sunkist was wonderful this year. Finding out that it has caffeine and I'm not allowed to have it (semi-not allowed) is a bummer :-( I miss it . . .

Stuff White People Like

OK, this site is hilarious and I must share: http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/

Now I'm not trying to be PC here so I don't care how it sounds. White people crack me up and some of the items on this site are dead-on. I don't necessary think I identify with most of these, but there are a few that make me laugh out loud because either it describes me or I can picture some white asshole I already know that does something on the list. Just browse through it and I'm sure you'll find something too. Here are snippets of some of my favorites.

#64 Recycling
"If you are in a situation where a white person produces an empty bottle, watch their actions. They will first say “where’s the recycling?” If you say “we don’t recycle,” prepare for some awkwardness. They will make a move to throw the bottle away, they will hesitate, and then ultimately throw the bottle away. But after they return look in their eyes. All they can see is the bottle lasting forever in a landfill, trapping small animals. It will eat at them for days, at this point you should say “I’m just kidding, the recycling is under the sink. Can you fish out that bottle?” And they will do it 100% of the time!"

#5 Farmers Markets
"White people also like Farmer’s Markets because it is outdoors (they love being outdoors), they can bring their dogs and children in expensive strollers, and they get to see other white people. "

#99 Grammar
"White people love rules. It explains why so they get upset when people cut in line, why they tip so religiously and why they become lawyers. But without a doubt, the rule system that white people love the most is grammar. It is in their blood not only to use perfect grammar but also to spend significant portions of time pointing out the errors of others."

Good Vibrations

Rocky loves to be on top of the washing machine while it's running. Adorable, isn't he? Alan is scared he's going to jump up there one day with the door open, but I know he's smarter than that! He just loves to be anywhere that he's not supposed to be and doing things that he's not supposed to be doing.

Here's another picture of my little boy being incredibly curious and almost falling sideways as I am taking his picture. He cocks his little head to the side every time he is intrigued and this time he wanted the string on the camera. Couldn't you just kiss that little sweet face???

Tagged

I've been tagged by Margaret in her blog. This means that I need to share 7 random/weird facts about myself and then tag 7 others so that they can do the same. Now, I can do the first part, but I don't know anyone else with a blog so I'm kinda stuck on the last part. Oh well, here goes . . .

1. Tweezing my stray eyebrows is like therapy to me.
2. I haven't finished reading a book in a LONG time. I've started like 5 over the past year or two and haven't finished a darn one. Whoops.
3. Ice cream makes even my worst day just a little bit better. It's my comfort food.
4. I am really picky about the way certain things are done at work. I like them perfect.
5. My closet is the world's biggest mess of clothes and I kinda don't care. Alan does.
6. I had a big freakin' tumor in my uterus the size of a softball. Want to see the pictures?
7. WebMD is my friend and my enemy. My hypochondria teaches me about everything else that is wrong with me.

Feline Family Portrait

Here's our single mom with her two illegitimates. Don't judge her, she was on the streets, you know. See that look on her face? Yeah, she's fierce and learned it the hard way. However, Caddy has since cleaned up her act and shares our wonderful home with her 2 sons.

Cute, aren't they?

Brotherly Love

This picture is too adorable not to share! Here are Rocky and Peyton snuggling in the bathroom window. They are both pretty long cats so they had to squeeze to fit in there!

For the first 2 and a half years of living in our house, we had no idea how to open up our windows. We thought they were all nailed shut, but they were actually locked and we just couldn't find the key. Embarrassing - but someone else found it for us: the bathroom remodeler/painter. Now we open the windows often so that we can enjoy the fresh air during these "just right" weeks of the year when you keep them open all day.

BTW, there is a screen in the window, but you just can't see it in the picture. I would never let my little loves out of the house!

Spring has Sprung!

Just wanted to share pictures of the beautiful flowers in our yard . . .
These pictures were taken about 2 weeks ago so most of the azalea flower petals have fallen off now, but the bushes are still brightening up our yard and are fun to look at every day. The way they look for these 3 weeks of the year almost make up for the fact that they are hideous old bushes for the other 49.

Sleepy Rockstar

Look at my sweet little boy, Rocky, (aka RockRock, Rockstar, Feline Love of my Life) enjoying a nap in a comfy mattress cover. He is constantly finding little nooks in our house to snuggle into and enjoy his catnaps. He's a constant in the bed with us every night though. He jumps in when I do and he's always there when I wake up. Love it!

Back by popular demand

Yeah, so I haven't posted in a while. Sorry 'bout that. I know you were missing me and hearing about my cats all the time.

Ok, Anna, think of something to write about . . .

ASPARAGUS! (I'm reaching here. Give me some time to warm up.)
I'm in love with this vegetable and having been eating lots of it in the past week. You want proof? Go sniff in there after I . . . Oh wait, that's probably not appropriate. Anyway, I discovered my love for these little green sticks a few years ago and much to my husband's dismay, I like to cook it at our house as often as I can. My favorite way is to bake them in the oven after I drizzle them with olive oil, garlic, salt & pepa. Delish! I tried something new tonight and boiled them for about 3 minutes and then put lemon juice, butter & parmesan cheese on them and that was great too. Now I just need to convince Alan to get over his lifetime hatred of asparagus. I already sold him on brussel sprouts which was a satisfying feat!

Growing up my family always had fresh vegetables in our house due to my parent's huge garden every year. I didn't understand the coolness of that when I was younger, but now I'm wishing I had that luxury every day because I often crave the zucchini, squash, corn, butter beans, tomatoes, and all of that other good-for-you stuff. The HORROR that I sometimes eat it out of a can. Sorry, Mom and Dad!

B T Dub, my profile picture on this blog is me enjoying some asparagus ;-)

Come on in 2008, make yourself at home

It's been said that the one you're with on New Year's at midnight is who you'll be with the rest of that year. I hope that's the case: I welcomed 2008 with Alan and a generous bartender. Don't worry, Mom. I'm just kidding and even if I wasn't, we had a nice taxi driver.

We had a blast at Red's in Mt. Pleasant for the night. I froze my fanny off but it was worth it to look good in my dress, right? Other than standing in line for 30 minutes to tinkle (more wiggling than standing), getting slightly splashed with urine, and squeezing my tootsies into high heels for 5 hours, New Years was a great time with some great friends.

This time of year is always like a fresh start. Alan and I have joined a gym (*gasp*) and we've actually been every day this year. Wow, are on a roll!! I really hope this lasts and we work ourselves into shape. I'm sure future posts will feature some of my faux pas at the gym. So far, so good. My quads are killing me though. Alan asked how I knew what my "quads" were.

Here is a picture of us ringing in the new year. I hope you all had a great NYE night and hope you have an awesome year ahead.
